Batch 12 applicants of Green Mountain Tribe took the Basic Mountaineering Course organized by GMT itself last 16-17 July 2016 in Layon Bilog (at the feet of Mt. Talamitam), Nasugbu, Batangas.

Basic Mountaineering Course is the discussion of the pre-climb preparation, pre-climb meeting, trip to jump off point, climb proper, post climb, the leave no trace policy, water management, garbage management, and the climbing checklist and also includes the basic first aid and ropemanship, a glimpse of wilderness and SAR, a bit information on maps, compass, etc., in short- sumakit ang ulo namin sa nag uumapaw na impormasyon ibinahagi nila sa amin. It was indeed fun and we NAILED it!

16 July 2016, upon arrival to the campsite, we immediately proceed to the lectures. According to our instructors- Ma’am MJ and Sir Ceejay, medyo may kahabaan ang lesson so we have to start as soon as possible para matapos agad and makapagproceed to other activities.

The lesson for the day ended up earlier as what we’ve expected (naks! Gagaling magcatch up ng batch.. Cheers! Note: Umiinom lang po kami hindi po dahil sa uhaw kami sa alak but for the bond of the group.

17 July 2016, after breakfast in the morning we continue the course. Ako po as a nurse may background po ako regarding first aid but not an expert in the wild. Iba din po kase ang approach nila sa wild compared sa hospital setting, pero ang pinakanahirapan ako was the ropemanship.. I dont know pero lahat ng tali para saken ay parepareho..

After ng mahabang usapan about BMC nagkaroon kami ng examination at practical exam dito nmin nalaman kung ano ang natutunan namin sa BMC.

The ropemanship was introduced to us by Sir Marlon

Rope Introduction

In the afternoon of July 17- judgement day. Written exams and return demonstrations was conducted by the instructors.

Habang siniset up po nila ang mga tali and everything kami naman po ay tahimik na nag observe on how they do it..

that angle…

Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time” … Enjoy the Outdoors.
